Sunshine Works Photography

I received my first camera when I was 7 years old, but it wasn't until I was in my late 20s that I realized what a gift photography had become for me: when my camera is in my hands, everything around me disappears except what’s in front of my lens. That intentional focus allows me to be fully present and aware of the sights and sounds of nature.  I’m so grateful for the excitement, joy and peace it brings me.

I’ve also become passionate about connecting others to nature, hoping it provides them with new awareness about their surroundings.  Seeing a bald eagle catch a fish, or a swan blocking a goose from its nest, or the sky becoming the most amazing colors as it rises and sets… so cool!  I hope my images evoke joy, wonder, excitement, awe and peace and prompt you to take time to look and listen to your everyday surroundings.  You might be awed by what's there.

The name Sunshine Works is attributed to a former neighbor who called me his "Little Susie Sunshine" from the time I was about 2 years old until he passed away in July, 2020.   I regarded Jim as my second dad and am forever grateful for the love, care and confidence he had in me.  I thank God every day for putting that man in my life.  Jim, I love you!
